I know this works because I, like many managers, used to dread giving feedback. The approaches I learned in management training didn't help my confidence or success. I avoided giving valuable feedback, and when I did find the courage to have the conversation, often failed to create real change.
Then I discovered a new simple system that has completely reversed my views on feedback. Now, I actually look forward to giving corrective feedback. And my conversations actually improve my relationships with colleagues and coaching clients. It's even made me better at receiving feedback.
